Qualifications and Experience

I am a Clinical Psychologist, registered with the Health Professionals Council (Registration number PYL22324) and  chartered with the British Psychological Society. I completed my Clinical Psychology training (D.Clin.Psy) at Royal Holloway (University of London).

Clinical Psychologists aim to reduce psychological distress and to enhance and promote psychological well-being. We work with people with mental or physical health problems – which might include anxiety and depression, serious and enduring mental illness, adjustment to physical illness, addictive behaviours, childhood behaviour and emotional disorders, personal and family relationships.

I have gained over 9 years clinical experience in psychological practice, working with individuals across the lifespan, who are experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties.  Through my Doctoral training, I am equipped to work with individuals with diverse psychological needs, drawing upon evidence based psychological models, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy and Systemic Family Therapy.

In addition to my independent work, I also work within the NHS, where I specialise in working with young people with mental health problems, who have also been convicted of criminal offences. I am also a Honarary Clinical Tutor for University of Surrey PsychD (Clihical Psychology Doctorate) course.

Areas of Specialism

In my independent psychology practice, I offer psychological therapy and assessment services, together with medico-legal work for Courts and Youth Justice Services, such as Youth Offending Teams.  I specialise in working with children and young people, as well as in providing short- to medium-term psychological therapy to adults.

My therapeutic approach tends to be based upon Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), in response to the wishes of many clients, whose goals are to reduce their symptoms of psychological distress.  We are all individuals however and appraoches that may be helpful to one person may not be as helpful to someone else.  My therapeutic approach takes account of this and I may use a variety of approaches, depending on the individual and the type of difficulties they are experiencing.  I may draw upon the following therapies or a combination of these therapies, in addition to CBT:
                  - Schema Therapy
                  - Solution-Focused Therapy
                  - Person-Centred Therapy
                  - Systemic Therapy

I am recognised as a provider of psychological services by AXA PPP Healthcare, Aviva, PRU Health, Standard Life, WPA and other Health Insurance Companies.

Confidentiality and consent to treatment are core values of my professional practice and I adhere to all of the professional guidelines of the British Psychological Society.  I seek to work collaboratively with service users and endeavour to offer a professional, yet friendly approach.
